Kurt Schoonraad - Biog
Mad, zany, lively and manic are among the many words that are used to describe comedian Kurt Schoonraad. Hailing from Mitchell's Plain, Kurt's is Cape Town's favourite comedian and his earthy humour makes him a real South African boykie in every way. Although hilariously funny, he performs a clean act focusing 1__KURT_SCHOONRAAD__HOME_GROAN.jpgon the widespread diversity of our rainbow nation’s varied cultures.

In 1999 at the start of the New Comedy Revolution one of his friends dared him to try out for the 'new faces' stage at the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival. To prove to his friends that any Schmuck from the streets would not be accepted for such a premier event, he tried out. He proved himself wrong by being accepting on the line-up.

Kurt then hooked up with the Cape Comedy Collective in 2000 and was given a platform (built by himself in his mom's garage) to experiment with his very unique observational style of South African comedy. According to family, he debuted at his second birthday party and has grown funnier with each passing year.

He has since gone on to pioneer Jou Ma se Comedy Club, a popular and ground-breaking weekly showcase that is truly benefiting Cape Town culture and the comedy industry as a whole. Kurt is thus seen as an ambassador by many of his contemporaries and has involved himself in a number of charitable causes to boot.

Kurt is no stranger to South African television….his parents had one since he was five. In this genre, Kurt is best known as the quirky accidental tourist on the hit SABC TV series Going Nowhere Slowly and for his role as the whacky protagonist on the popular game show Crazy Games for 3 seasons (2006-09). He was one of the first celebrities to feature on Who Do You Think You Are?, a South African genealogy documentary series which delves into the family history of celebrities, tracing their ancestry and revealing secrets and surprises from their pasts. Other TV accolades include hosting a season of the ever popular Comedy Showcase on SABC, featuring on Pieter Dirk Uys’s Evita, Live & Dangerous and Barry Hilton’s Funny you should say that, as well as being interviewed on The Phat Joe Show on eTV.

Kurt is a favourite on the South African Arts Festival scene and some of his stage accolades include the Heavyweight Comedy Jam, Old Mutual Comedy Encounters, East Coast Radio Ha Ha Comedy Showcase in Durban, Smirnoff Comedy Festival and the Cape Town International Comedy Festival. In 2005, he also produced both The Barnyard National Comedy Festival and the Jou Ma se Comedy event, together with the Cape Town Festival.

His one-man shows Kurt Schoonraad Live, Spiders & Mayonnaise & Punchlines exposes the lighter side of being South African (pre & post 1994) and his sense of the ridiculous has everyone in the audience laughing. Kurt Schoonraad represents a wholesome, proudly South African character that is easy to relate to. He portrays a strong friendly persona that is synonymous with popular culture and he is a fine candidate as a representative in any media format.

Rob Van Vuuren - Biog
Rob van Vuuren does a whole lot of different things. He is a theatre and film actor, stand-up comedian, playwright, television Rob_van_Vuuren.jpgpersonality, director, producer, motivational speaker and master of ceremonies. Oh yes and he also got taught how to do a standing back flip by an aging Russian Olympic gymnastics coach in preparation for his role as Vince in the film ‘Footskating 101’.

He also co-wrote, produced and starred (as Twakkie) in "The Most Amazing Show" for Sabc2. The Most Amazing Show has toured nationally and internationally in every conceivable caravan known to mankind and has acquired a freaky kind of cult status that has people calling each other ‘guy’ in strange accents far and wide.

Rob is a host on the wildly popular award winning TV shows Crazy Games and SA’s Got Talent .

His one man comedy show “Rob Van Vuuren is Rob van Vuuren” got nominated for best one person show at the SA Comedy Awards. It didn’t win, but it’s still bladdy funny.

He did win a Nando’s Stand-up Comedy award at the Gtown  in 2008 by doing stand-up in his spare time whilst trying to cure himself of his addiction to the National Arts Festival by producing 13 productions at the event. He performed in 3 of these productions and directed the other ten.  He has the scars to prove it.

Rob was also given the unique honor to perform for Madiba and his guests at his 90th Birthday bash in his home town of Qunu.

Rob then went on to be crowned champion of the fifth season of Strictly Come Dancing in South Africa. He does a mean Tango.

Rob played the part of the Devil in the hit BBC series ‘The Devils Whore’. A lot of latex was used.

Rob’s Directing credits include; Louw Venter’s ‘Best Man’s Speech’ ; Scott Sparrow and Leila Anderson’s ‘Isabella’ ; ‘Fly Paper Jet’s Travelling Salesmen’ ; ‘Cokey Falkow’s Odd One Out’ , Mark Elderkin’s ‘Swazi’ and Gaetaen Schmidt’s ‘Rumpsteak’ amongst others.
