The Johannesburg-based Jill Richards Quartet will be performing at the Pick n Pay Chamber Music Breakfast Concert at Kirstenbosch on 10 August.

This newly-formed ensemble led by distinguished South African pianist, Jill Richards, includes fellow principal players, soloists and teachers Waldo Alexander, Elizabeth Furtner and Susan Mouton. For their Kirstenbosch concert they will be performing two well-loved piano quartets by Brahms (Op 26 in A) and Schumann (Op 47 in Eflat).

Jill Richards is regarded as one of the foremost exponents of new South African piano works. She has released four CDs and broadcasts both locally and in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States. Waldo Alexander is a UCT graduate who has enjoyed a versatile career performing within a variety of musical genres, including with the well-known Sontonga Quartet. Elizabeth Furtner is a music writer, studio recording artist and teacher and currently pursues a solo career on both violin and viola, including performing with pop bands such as Watershed. Susan Mouton is a well-known chamber musician and principal cellist in the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa.
